Luis Suarez has more yellow cards than goals in his past five games.
The forward scored twice against Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final, but those are his only strikes while he has accrued four yellow cards.
Suarez could have been sent off in both legs against Atletico Madrid, for kicking Juanfran and elbowing Diego Godin, and if he doesn’t arrest his recent form and behaviour, he could be regressing into the player we knew before he came to Barcelona.
With four goals in his last 10 games, the only worse spell Suarez has suffered at the club was his first 10 games, in which he only scored two goals.
If it seems like we’re being harsh on the Uruguayan hitman, it’s only because he was the best striker on the planet until hitting this patch.
Suarez has done things this season that barely seemed possible, like his cyclone kick goal against Arsenal or his volley against Roma. On top of that, his overall goal record was outstanding too.
