The round ended with defeat of the leader and favorites losing the games.The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Gembo BBC (10-2) on the court of fifth ranked Gent Hawks on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Gent Hawks 94-85. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Gembo BBC. They outrebounded Gembo BBC 41-25 including 28 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for Joeri Vermoesen who led his team to a victory with 32 points and 8 rebounds. point guard Laurent Lhote (182-84) contributed with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. French swingman Nicolas Wachowiak (200-91) replied with 17 points for Gembo BBC. Gent Hawks have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Oxaco. Gembo BBC at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. They share it with Waregem. Gent Hawks is looking forward to face Soba (#5) in Antwerpen in the next round. Gembo BBC will play at home against the league’s second-placed Waregem (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Bottom-ranked Ekeren managed to get a third victory, breaking the six-game losing streak. This time newly promoted Ekeren won against sixth-ranked Royal Brussels 89-81. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Zed Peeters (-96) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 6 rebounds and Pieter De Cock who added 16 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) during the contest. The best for the losing side was power forward Stephane Moris (208-86, agency: Promotex) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Ekeren (3-9) moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Ninane. Royal Brussels lost fourth consecutive game. Royal Brussels at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keep the sixth position with six games lost. Ekeren will play against higher ranked Oxaco (#3) in Boechout in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Royal Brussels will play on the road against Houthalen and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Soba (8-4) and Ninane (3-9), which took place in Ninane. Higher ranked Soba lost to fourteenth ranked Ninane in a road game 66-81 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Soba. Ninane moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Ekeren. Loser Soba dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Ninane will meet higher ranked Melsele (#10) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Soba will play against Gent Hawks (#4) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either. Another upset was a game between Houthalen (5-7) and Giants B (4-6), which took place in Antwerp. Higher ranked Houthalen lost to eleventh ranked Giants B in a road game 95-108. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Houthalen. The best player for the winners was Philippe Peeters who scored 21 points and 5 assists. Giants B’s coach Thomas Crab allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Giants B moved-up to ninth place. Houthalen at the other side keeps the seventh position with seven games lost. Giants B’s next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Gistel Oostende (#14) on the road where they are favorite. The game between second ranked Waregem (10-2) and 10th ranked RPC Anderlecht (4-7) in Waregem on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. Waregem outscored guests from Anderlecht 85-56. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of RPC Anderlecht. It was a good game for Bart Willy Samaey who led his team to a victory with 11 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Waregem used an opportunity after Gembo BBC lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Newly promoted RPC Anderlecht keeps the tenth place with seven games lost. Waregem will face league’s leader Gembo BBC in Borgerhout in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. RPC Anderlecht will play at home against the league’s leader Gembo BBC (#1) and hope to win that game. In the last two games of round 12 bottom-ranked Gistel Oostende was beaten by Ieper on the road 79-67. Oxaco won against Melsele on its own court 96-90.
