Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp remains optimistic about Philippe Coutinho’s ankle injury after the influential playmaker was carried off on a stretcher in the 2-0 win over Sunderland
The Brazilian was holding his ankle and broke down in tears after challenging for the ball with midfielder Didier Ndong at Anfield.
He was taken off on a stretcher with protective padding around the damaged area on 33 minutes with Divock Origi replacing him in the victory that briefly had the Reds at the Premier League summit and will be further assessed over the next 24 hours.
