Loose Zimbabwe slide to 160 all out

Innings Zimbabwe 160 (Musakanda 36, Williams 35, Gunaratne 3-10, Vandersay 3-50) v Sri Lanka
There are two ways of looking at Zimbabwe’s slump to 160 all out after opting to bat on a decent Bulawayo track in the final of the tri-series. One is to note that they had to contend with a good all-round bowling effort from Sri Lanka and an unhelpful rain interruption early on. Another is to point out that Zimbabwe let themselves down once again with a series of soft dismissals and dubious decisions. It might sound harsh but the latter analysis is probably the more apt.
The dubious decision-making began before the game started, with the home side dropping both openers – Chamu Chibhabha and Brian Chari – and Chris Mpofu, and bringing in Malcolm Waller, Brian Vitori and debutant Tarisai Musakanda. That forced Peter Moor and Hamilton Masakadsa to fill the opening slots and Moor, in particular, looked uncomfortable with the promotion.
