Manchester City missed out on going top of Premier League 2 Division One after drawing 2-2 with Chelsea at the City Football Academy in Manchester on Saturday.

The junior Citizens lost the lead twice en route to dropping two vital points. It’s a stalemate that means Everton remain top of the standings.

Striker Lukas Nmecha netted the opening goal for City on the stroke of half-time. However, Ike Ugbo drew Chelsea level in the second half, before Thierry Ambrose came off the bench to bag what looked like the winner for the hosts.

Yet City were pegged back again when they had to play the last 12 minutes with 10 men after defender Cameron Humphreys was dismissed for receiving two yellow cards.

City stay second ahead of Monday’s fixtures that will see both neighbours Manchester United and leaders Everton in action in Division One.

Aston Villa were the winners of the day’s Division Two fixture. They won a six-goal thriller against Stoke City in Staffordshire.
