Elgin marvels at Newcastle

News of the early action from Newcastle where Daryl Jacob completed a double in the first two races on the card.
Elgin made an impressive start to his career over jumps in the New EBF “National Hunt” Maiden Hurdle at Newcastle.
Alan King’s four-year-old showed plenty of ability in bumpers, winning on his second start at Haydock before filling the runner-up spot on his reappearance at Aintree last month.
He was second best in the market for his hurdling debut at 9/4, with runaway Carlisle scorer Dubai Angel the 5/6 favourite.
Having been ridden positively, Dubai Angel made his move at the top of the straight, but Elgin was in his slipstream and took over on the run to the final flight before pulling two and a half lengths clear in the hands of Daryl Jacob.
