OleksandrKushnirov The most exciting game of round 15 in the Superleague took place in Mykolaiv. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Zaporizhya (8-6) to eighth ranked Mykolaiv (6-8) 70-67 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Zaporizhya. The hosts trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 3 points. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Mykolaiv made 7 blocks. It was a good game for center Oleksandr Kushnirov (210-92) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. point guard Vladyslav Tonchenko (185-89) contributed with 10 points and 5 assists for the winners. The former international point guard Pavlo Burenko (184-90) answered with 25 points and 6 rebounds for Zaporizhya. Mykolaiv moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Cherkasy. Zaporizhya at the other side keeps the sixth position with six games lost. Mykolaiv is looking forward to face higher ranked Dnipro (#3) in Dnepropetrovsk in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Zaporizhya will play on the road against Kryvbas in Kryvyi Rih and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Very important is a road loss of second ranked Dnipro (10-4) against sixth ranked Kryvbas (8-4) on Friday night. Visiting Dnipro was defeated by Kryvbas in Kryvyi Rih 82-70. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Dnipro. It was a great evening for forward Dmitri Lipovtsev (203-86) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Igor Boyarkin helped adding 19 points and 7 assists. The best for the losing side was international forward Stanislav Tymofeyenko (202-89, agency: Octagon Europe) with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Dnipro’s coach Denys Zhuravlov rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. Kryvbas moved-up to fifth place. Dnipro at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. They share it with Budivelnyk. Kryvbas will play against Zaporizhya (#6) in Zaporozhye in the next round. Dnipro will play on the road against Mykolaiv (#7) in Mykolaiv and hopes to get back on the winning track. The game between 9th ranked VolinBasket (2-10) and fourth ranked Bipa Basket (9-5) in Lutsk on Thursday ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Odessa outscored VolinBasket 89-70. It was a quality performance for Klym Artamonov who led the winners and scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Ivan Timoshuk came up with 10 points and 5 assists for VolinBasket in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bipa Basket have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 9-5 record. VolinBasket lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with ten games lost. Bipa Basket will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. VolinBasket will play against the league’s leader Khimik (#1) and hope to secure a win. In the last two games of round 15 Kremen was beaten by Budivelnyk on the road 90-78. Cherkasy won against Avantazh-Polit. on its own court 92-84.
