Gomes hails Capoue’s impact

Etienne Capoue’s form this season has eased the burden on Watford striking duo Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo, according to Heurelho Gomes.
Deeney and Ighalo scored 28 of Watford’s 40 Premier League goals last season as the newly-promoted side achieved a 13th-placed finish back in the top flight.
Capoue has taken up a more advanced midfield role this season though and is currently the club’s top goalscorer, having netted five times in the current campaign, with the Hornets sat eighth under Walter Mazzarri – who replaced Quique Sanchez Flores at the end of last season.
Ahead of the visit of Stoke City this weekend, live on Sky Sports, Watford goalkeeper Gomes has put their improved position down to the shared responsibility, highlighting Capoue’s impact.
“This season he [Capoue] has more freedom to go to the box and he’s a type of player that wants to be there,” Gomes told Soccer Saturday.
