Bosnia – Division I Round 5: Zrinjski HT loses to Kakanj

Obrad Tomic The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with favorites losing the games and even winless team recording their first victory.The game between third ranked Zrinjski HT (3-2) and eighth ranked Kakanj (3-2) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Zrinjski HT was defeated by Kakanj in a tough game in Mostar 83-88. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Zrinjski HT. They outrebounded Zrinjski HT 47-21 including a 35-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Center Obrad Tomic (206-93) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 19 rebounds. Serbian guard Vojin Svilar (187-86, college: W.Georgia, agency: BeoExcell) contributed with 23 points and 8 assists for the winners. International point guard Drasko Knezevic (186-93) answered with 32 points, 6 assists and 5 steals for Zrinjski HT. Kakanj moved-up to third place, which they share with Zrinjski HT and Spars Sarajevo. Kakanj is looking forward to face Leotar (#7) in Trebinje in the next round. Zrinjski HT will play at home against the league’s second-placed Mladost (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals. An interesting game for Mladost (4-1) which hosted in Mrkonjic Grad 4th placed Siroki Primorka (2-3). Second ranked Mladost managed to get a 4-point victory 80-76. Mladost have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Bosna-Royal. Siroki Primorka at the other side dropped to the sixth place with three games lost. They share the position with Sloboda Tuzla and Leotar. Mladost will play against Zrinjski HT (#5) in Mostar in the next round. Siroki Primorka will play at home against Spars Sarajevo and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Gradjanski’s fans can celebrate the first win of their team after four consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Leotar (2-3) 71-69 on Saturday. Milijan Bocka nailed a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Gradjanski’s coach Goran Sehovac used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Luka Radmilovic came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds for Leotar in the defeat. Gradjanski (1-4) left bottom position moving up to ninth place, which they share with Bosnjak. Loser Leotar dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with Sloboda Tuzla and Siroki Primorka. Gradjanski will meet higher ranked Sloboda Tuzla (#8) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Leotar will play against Kakanj and hope to secure a win. Division I top team – Bosna-Royal (4-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat fifth ranked Sloboda Tuzla (2-3) in Sarajevo 83-67. Newly promoted Bosna-Royal maintains first place with 4-1 record, which they share with Mladost. Sloboda Tuzla at the other side dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. Bosna-Royal’s next round opponent will be Bosnjak (#9) in Hadzici and are hoping to win another game. Sloboda Tuzla will play at home against Gradjanski and hope to win that game. The game between sixth ranked Spars Sarajevo (3-2) and 9th ranked Bosnjak (1-4) in Sarajevo on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. Spars Sarajevo outscored guests from Hadzici 95-69.
