Damn it, Michael. Did you really have to scribble your name on the dotted line? Did you really have to remove your name from the drug-testing pool overseen by the United States Anti-Doping Agency? Did you really have to make your retirement official?
Just kidding.
While attending Monday night’s USA Swimming Golden Goggle Awards in New York City, 28-time Olympic medalist Michael Phelps revealed that he has signed paperwork to make his retirement a done deal, his name now removed from the USADA drug-testing pool. No longer will Phelps have to report his whereabouts to doping officials, a process that requires daily updates.
