Week 12 Waiver Wire: Top Adds, Drops and Long-Term Fantasy Sleeper Targets
- Updated: November 22, 2016
Plenty of fantasy football owners will be scouring the waiver wire in search of replacements over the next few days after Week 11 resulted in several high-profile injuries. Andrew Luck, A.J. Green, Giovani Bernard and C.J. Prosise were among the players who suffered health setbacks.
Making matters worse is the fact those issues come at a time when many fantasy teams are fighting for their playoff lives over the final weeks of the regular season. So successfully patching up the void could make the difference between qualifying for the postseason and missing out.
Let’s check out some of the top options that could be available on the free-agent market for Week 12. That’s followed by a look at some players fading off the fantasy radar and some that might become valuable before season’s end.
Top Waiver Targets
Thomas Rawls will undoubtedly be the hottest commodity in the leagues where he’s still available after returning from injury. He’s slated to move back into a workhorse role for the Seattle Seahawks during Prosise’s absence, which should include virtually all the red-zone work.
The Central Michigan product enjoyed success under those circumstances last year while filling in for Marshawn Lynch. On Sunday, the powerful runner stated he’s ready to lead the charge again, per Todd Milles of the News Tribune.
“I played 40 [snaps]?” Rawls said. “I am not sure if that was in the game plan. Like I tell you guys, whatever it takes. And with the mentality like that, and my work ethic, it doesn’t matter. In the meantime, I am going to have to hold down this backfield.”
Pierre Garcon has come on strong in recent weeks. He’s caught at least six passes in three straight games with the Washington Redskins’ aerial attack picking up steam. That includes his best game of the campaign in Week 11, as he tallied six grabs for 116 yards and a touchdown.
Pro Football Focus noted his high grade as he surges back toward fantasy relevance:
