2016 champs open ’17 spring with split squads

CHICAGO — The Cubs announced their Spring Training schedule on Monday, and they will open Cactus League play on Feb. 25 with split-squad games against the Athletics in Mesa, Ariz., and at the Giants in Scottsdale.
The Cubs will play 37 spring games, including 17 at Sloan Park, plus two in Las Vegas against the Reds on March 25-26. Chicago also will play two games March 30-31 against the Astros at Minute Maid Park to close the exhibition schedule.
