China’s Xu Jiayu & Wang Shun Tie Bow On Asian Championships In Impressive Fashion

As the Asian Championships came to a close in Tokyo on Sunday, China turned to a pair of Olympic medalists to finish the four-day competition in fine fashion. Just a few months removed from medal-winning performances at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Xu Jiayu and Wang Shun soared to the top of the podium at their regional gathering.
The silver medalist behind American Ryan Murphy in the 100 backstroke in Rio, Xu had no trouble securing a victory in the event to complete a backstroke sweep in Tokyo. Clocking in at 53.02, Xu finished 1.28 seconds ahead of countryman Li Guangyuan (54.30) to add to his previous titles …
