Jamie Carragher said it was “one of those days” for Liverpool after they were held to a goalless draw by Southampton on Saturday.
The visitors were largely dominant at St Mary’s and Roberto Firmino, Joel Matip and Nathaniel Clyne all went close in the second half.
But Liverpool could not take their chances and the draw means they are joined at the top of the Premier League by Manchester City and could be leapfrogged by Chelsea if they beat Middlesbrough on Nissan Super Sunday.
