- Updated: November 19, 2016
PHOENIX — The D-backs set their 40-man roster Friday, adding five players while also losing five players in the process.
Left-hander Anthony Banda, infielder Dawel Lugo, infielder Jack Reinheimer, right-hander Jimmie Sherfy and infielder Ildemaro Vargas were added to the roster, which protects them from being selected in next month’s Rule 5 Draft.
To make room for those players on the roster, the D-backs designated Kyle Jensen for assignment.
The D-backs also lost four players on waivers when pitchers Edwin Escobar (Indians), Dominic Leone (Blue Jays) and Tyler Wagner (Rangers) along with catcher Tuffy Gosewisch (Braves) were claimed.
