Chris Weinke Comments on Rams Offense for Jared Goff’s Start vs. Dolphins

Los Angeles Rams quarterbacks coach Chris Weinke stated the team isn’t going to alter its approach as first overall pick Jared Goff prepares to make his first NFL start Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.
Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com passed along comments Friday from Weinke, a Heisman Trophy winner who spent seven years in the NFL, about the Rams’ confidence in the rookie’s ability to step in without needing to take anything off his plate:
We’re not scaling back. This kid understands what we’re trying to do on offense, he’s able to execute it. He had a good day of practice [on Wednesday], we expect him to have another good day on Friday. In terms of our approach as a staff, putting a game plan together, we’re obviously smart enough to say, ‘Hey, listen, we know what this kid does well, and we’re going to lean on those things.’ But we’re not going to scale back for him. We don’t need to.
“It’s the same amount of plays, the same package,” Rams offensive coordinator Rob Boras said, per Gonzalez. “We trust with where he is mentally.”
Many Rams fans have been pleading for Goff’s debut as the team’s record has faded to 4-5 after a promising 3-1 start. Struggles under veteran quarterback …
