News from Thursday’s meeting at Market Rasen where Oscar Rock defied a final-flight blunder to return to winning ways.
Oscar Rock returned to form with a vengeance as he snatched victory in the Swinton Insurance Lord Tennyson Handicap Hurdle at Market Rasen.
The eight-year-old was revitalised by having his first race over the smaller obstacles for two years, combined with a drop in class.
He had been highly-tried since landing a valuable handicap chase at the Lincolnshire track in September 2015, taking in top races such as the Ryanair Chase and bet365 Gold Cup.
Malcolm Jefferson’s charge look booked for second place when he made a mistake at the final flight as Duke Street landed with a handy lead.
However, Oscar Rock (11/4) knuckled down for the in-form Brian Hughes to gain the verdict by a length.
“He wants good ground, but was probably the best horse in the race and he did it nicely in the end,” Jefferson said.
“He got away with that mistake at the last and won by a length.
