Taylor’s pro move thrills Jonas

Natasha Jonas says Katie Taylor “will take the world by storm” and insists more female boxers will follow the Bray fighter’s lead and enter the paid ranks.
Taylor, the five-time world amateur champion and London 2012 gold medallist, turned professional last week by signing a contract with Matchroom Boxing. She will debut at the SSE Wembley Arena on November 26 before fighting on Anthony Joshua’s undercard at the Manchester Arena two weeks later.
Both of Taylor’s bouts will be shown on Sky Sports, and Jonas – Britain’s first female Olympic boxer – believes the 30-year-old’s decision to turn professional is a watershed moment for women’s boxing.
