Banister to take part in NASCAR’s Texas 500

ARLINGTON — Rangers manager Jeff Banister will serve as the honorary pace car driver for Sunday’s Texas 500 at the Texas Motor Speedway.
The Texas 500 is part of NASCAR’s Chase for the Sprint Cup with 40 drivers competing including the Round of 8 championship contenders. The race is scheduled for a 1 p.m. CT start in Fort Worth. Banister will have a practice session in the morning.
