Turkey – TBL Round 6: Final Genclik wins their first game

AnthonyTucker It’s still too early stage of the Regular Season in TBL, but even now we can clearly see the differece between stronger teams and outsiders. There were many interesting games last round. The round ended with favorites losing the games and even winless team recording their first victory.Final Genclik can celebrate finally their first win this season after five consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Muglaorman (0-6) 101-90 on Friday. Final Genclik shot 61.9 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. Final Genclik looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Anthony Tucker (193-89, college: MSU Moorhead) who scored 32 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Nigeria center Kenny Adeleke (205-83, college: Hartford, agency: SDJ Sports) chipped in 10 points and 11 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Ricky Harris (187-87, college: Massachusetts) who recorded 30 points and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Final Genclik (1-5) left bottom position moving up to sixteenth place, which they share with Duzce Bld. It was Muglaorman’s sixth loss in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with six games lost. Final Genclik is looking forward to face higher ranked Gelisim (#8) in Izmir in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Muglaorman will play at home against the league’s second-placed Sakarya BSB (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either. Undefeated leader Istanbulspor delivered the sixth consecutive victory. This time they beat 6th ranked Gelisim (3-3) 77-72. It was a good game for forward Mustafa Bakir Gorur (204-88, agency: 1×1 Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Walter Lemon Jr. contributed with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Bosnian-Slovenia center Hasan Rizvic (212-84) replied with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists for Gelisim. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Undefeated Istanbulspor (6-0) have an impressive six-game winning streak. Newly promoted Istanbulspor maintains first position with a perfect record of 6 victories in a row. Gelisim at the other side dropped to the seventh place with three games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Istanbulspor will play against Samsun (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gelisim will play against Final Genclik and hopes to get back on the winning track. A very close game took place in Balikesir between Turk Telekom and Bandirma Kir.. Fifth ranked Turk Telekom (5-1) got a very close victory on the road over 11th ranked Bandirma Kir. (2-4). Turk Telekom managed to escape with a 2-point win 78-76 on Sunday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Mehmet Ozdogan scored 18 points, 7 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners. The best for the losing side was Erkan Yilmaz with 18 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Bandirma Kir.’s coach Menderes Gumusdal rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. Turk Telekom have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Bandirma Kir. lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with four games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Turk Telekom will meet at home Eskisehir Basket (#5) in the next round. Bandirma Kir. will play against Afyon Bld (#3) and hope to secure a win. A very interesting game took place in Petkim. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 12th ranked Yalova Bld (2-4) to seventh ranked Socar Petkim (4-2) 78-76 on Saturday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. T.J. Campbell notched 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort. Socar Petkim moved-up to sixth place. Newly promoted Yalova Bld dropped to the eleventh position with four games lost. Socar Petkim’s next round opponent will be Pertevniyal (#15) in Istanbul and are hoping to win another game. Yalova Bld will play at home against Duzce Belediye (#16) and hope to win that game. The game with biggest result difference took place in Afyonkarahisar. Local Afyon Bld (5-1) outscored 9th ranked Samsun (3-3) 95-73 on Saturday night. The best player for the winners was Mustafa Shakur who scored 22 points and 7 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Afyon Bld have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Samsun dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. Afyon Bld will face Bandirma Kir. (#12) in Balikesir in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Samsun will play at home against the league’s leader Istanbulspor (#1) and hope to win that game. Rest of the games of round 6 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are: Eskisehir Basket defeated Duzce Bld. in Edirne 87-72. Sakarya BSB beat Acibadem at home 83-75. Bursaspor won against Akhisar Bld on the opponent’s court 69-63. Mamak DSI managed to outperform Pertevniyal in a home game 109-93. The best stats of 6th round was 34 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds by Aubrey Coleman of Yalova Bld.Bandirma Kir. – Turk Telekom 76-78A very close game took place in Balikesir between Turk Telekom and Bandirma Kir..
