Bryant’s home run ignites Cubs’ rally
- Updated: October 31, 2016
CHICAGO — The 103-win Cubs, owners of one of the big leagues’ top offenses this season, were not about to go down Sunday without a fight.
Kris Bryant ensured that much, leading off the fourth inning of World Series Game 5 at Wrigley Field with a home run to spark a three-run Cubs rally, giving Chicago a 3-1 lead over the Indians. The next batter, Anthony Rizzo hammered a Trevor Bauer sinker off the ivy in right field for a double, moved to third on a Ben Zobrist single and scored on Addison Russell’s infield hit.
