CHICAGO — No Indians or Cubs player has won a World Series Most Valuable Player Award, because the honor was first bestowed upon Brooklyn Dodgers pitcher Johnny Podres in 1955. This will be an important first for a member of one of these teams, so there could not be a more appropriate time to let fans have a say in this award for the first time in Major League Baseball history.

Fans now have a new opportunity to help decide the coveted individual honor through the World Series MVP Award Vote presented by Chevrolet.

• VOTE NOW: World Series MVP Award presented by Chevrolet

Fan balloting will be conducted exclusively at MLB.com/vote, and voting continues through the end of the game. The Indians had a 3-1 Series lead entering Game 5, so if they win this one, the MVP will be announced shortly after the last out. If the Cubs win, the count resets and the process starts over with the sixth inning of Game 6 on Tuesday in Cleveland.

• Game 5: LIVE on FOX

The fan vote will count for 20 percent of the official determination of the World Series MVP Award winner, with the other 80 percent coming on location from the three broadcast rightsholders (FOX Sports, ESPN Radio and MLB International) and the Baseball Writers’ Association of America.
