Moore wins in Japan

Ryan Moore claimed yet more top-level honours when he guided Maurice to victory in the Autumn Tenno Sho at Tokyo racecourse.
Moore, riding the 90th Group One of his career, had successfully linked up with Noriyuki Hori’s five-year-old for two Grade One triumphs over a mile last year, but, if anything, the partnership looked even more at home over this longer trip.
Maurice bounded into contention at the top of the home straight, after Royal Ascot flop A Shin Hikari had made the running, and was very fine value for his length-and-a-half defeat of Real Steel.
Moore said: “He’s a very good horse, he’s strong at a mile and very hard to beat.
“He’s very strong, he’s got a good turn of foot and he was dominant.
