Honeywell stays hot with more AFL zeros

MESA, Ariz. — Tampa Bay Rays No. 2 prospect Brent Honeywell put up his second straight strong pitching outing in the Arizona Fall League on Saturday after a tough beginning to his time with the Peoria Javelinas.
Honeywell held his opponents scoreless for the second start in a row. He faced 11 Mesa Solar Sox over three innings, giving up three hits, walking none and striking out three batters, following four shutout innings against the Salt River Rafters on Monday.

“I just try to keep our guys in the game,” Honeywell said. “I did the best I could, we didn’t need that run to score in the first, I just tried to limit the damage, and the same thing happened in the second inning.”
While Honeywell owned a 2.35 ERA in the regular season with Class-A Advanced Charlotte and Double-A Montgomery, his Fall League ERA was 8.64 prior to Saturday’s start. In his first two outings, he gave up eight earned runs over 4.1 innings.
