Cleveland weather update for Game 2

CLEVELAND — Two hours before the scheduled first pitch of Game 2 of the World Series on Wednesday, Major League Baseball officials expressed cautious optimism it would start on time and be played to its completion, despite a drizzly forecast for the rest of the evening.

Weather conditions, however, can change quickly, cautioned MLB senior vice president of baseball operations Peter Woodfork.

“Right now, the plan is to play,” Woodfork said at 4:35 p.m. ET, approximately 2 1/2 hours before first pitch. “We’ll take all the information we can get over the next two hours. We won’t make a final decision until we need to get starters ready to pitch, which is 6, 6:15.”
