C.J. Spiller Cut by Seahawks: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction
- Updated: October 26, 2016
The Seattle Seahawks announced they released veteran running back C.J. Spiller on Wednesday, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.
Spiller made two appearances for the Seahawks, running for nine yards on three carries and catching five passes for 43 yards and a touchdown.
Releasing the 29-year-old helps Seattle avoid a potential logjam in the backfield. Jayson Jenks of the Seattle Times reported Monday that Thomas Rawls is nearing his return to the field. Taking Spiller out of the mix also allows younger running backs Alex Collins and C.J. Prosise to see more time on the field.
