More Carnival joy for Appleby

Charlie Appleby’s successful Spring Carnival continued with a facile success in the Jayco Bendigo Cup for Francis Of Assisi.
Last week, the Newmarket handler teamed up with jockey Kerrin McEvoy to win the Geelong Cup and the pair were at it again in the Group Three contest.
The former John Ferguson inmate, who was last seen in action at Glorious Goodwood, ran out a comfortable three length winner to the delight of McEvoy.
“The English team are having a good run at the moment,” McEvoy told www.racing.com.
“I’ve said to James [Ferguson] and the team that they should bring about 20 next year, and come out in July!
“I was expecting the Lloyd [Williams] horse [Our Century] to be coming hard, but I had too much of a break.
“I was quite surprised when I saw the big screen how much I was in front.”
McEvoy will not be riding for Godolphin in next week’s Emirates Melbourne Cup where he will …
