CLEVELAND — Cubs left-hander Jon Lester settled in after a trying first inning before departing Game 1 of the World Series on Tuesday against the Indians in the sixth, in line for what would be his first loss in four Fall Classic starts.
Lester entered the night 3-0 with a 0.43 ERA (one earned run in 21 innings) in three previous World Series starts for the Red Sox, but was touched for two runs in the first inning Tuesday and three earned runs in 5 2/3 innings before departing in the sixth.
