PokerStars Team Pro Chris Moneymaker made a name for himself by winning the 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event after qualifying into the event on PokerStars. He is often credited for the poker boom the industry experienced for years afterward.
The poker pro proved he still knows how to play online. Under the screen name “MoneyNJ800,” he finished second place in a heads-up deal in the PokerStars NJ $350 NL Hold’em [Sunday Special SE] $75,000 Gtd. for $15,943, or the second highest prize on New Jersey regulated online poker rooms of the weekend!
The winner of that tournament was also the biggest winner of that weekend with Jesse “ROU$EY” Elliot walking away with $17,818. Meanwhile, Matt “el binko” Iles finished in sixth place for $4,388 and David “coles93” Coleman finished one spot behind in seventh place for $3,391.
Also scoring big in the NJCOOP were Michael “MartinChatwn” Lavenburg and Fred “Scooby-D0O” Farrell who finished in first and second place for $4,585 and $3,098, respectfully, in the NJCOOP-23: $100 NL Hold’em [Shootout, Six-Max, Turbo] $10,000 …
