Schwarber gets 1st AFL hit, flying to Cle.

Kyle Schwarber’s path back to the Cubs continued on Monday afternoon in Arizona.

Schwarber, who missed nearly all of the regular season following a knee injury suffered when he collided with Dexter Fowler in the outfield on April 7, was the designated hitter for the second time with the Mesa Solar Sox in the Arizona Fall League. He was hitting in the No. 2 spot in Mesa’s lineup. He went 1-for-3 with a walk in his first live game action on Saturday.

In his first at-bat on Monday, the left-handed-hitting Schwarber pulled a sharp ground ball to second base on the first pitch he saw. His swing looked good, and he was able to run to first without any issues.
