Barclays Premier League Table: 2016 EPL Outlook After Saturday’s Week 9 Results
- Updated: October 22, 2016
Tottenham Hotspur’s quest to move atop the Premier League standings was thwarted on Saturday with a 0-0 draw against Bournemouth, though Spurs did extend their unbeaten streak in all competitions to eight.
Neither team was able to get extensive shots on their opponent, with just five combined efforts on goal, but Tottenham dominated the possession 62-38 percent.
Bournemouth missed a golden opportunity to take an early lead at home when Charlie Daniels got deep into Tottenham territory and looked like he was going to find the back of the net, but Hugo Lloris made a fantastic diving stop.
Arsenal also had a tougher matchup than expected against Middlesbrough, as the Gunners settled for a scoreless draw with Boro.

Dele Alli had a chance to put Tottenham on top right out of the gate when Bournemouth ‘keeper Artur Boruc botched a pass that Alli scooped up, but the England international was flagged for offside.
Greg Stobart of Squawka summed up Tottenham’s overall offensive effort against Bournemouth:

Mistakes were plentiful on both sides as Spurs and the Cherries combined for 25 …
