Fans recognize Toronto legends in last at-bats

TORONTO — If Wednesday marked the final time that Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion wear a Blue Jays uniform, the sold-out crowd at Rogers Centre made sure there was an appropriate send-off.
Fans recognized the possibility in the bottom of the ninth inning of a 3-0 loss in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series by treating Bautista to a standing ovation when he stepped into the batter’s box. He responded with one last memory of 2016 by delivering a double to the corner in left field off Cleveland closer Cody Allen.
