All of the news from Wednesday afternoon’s meeting at Newmarket as another Frankel won for John Gosden.

Cracksman become the latest colt sired by Frankel to receive a quote for the Investec Derby when completing a double for trainer John Gosden at Newmarket with victory in the Breeders Supporting Racing EBF Maiden Stakes.

With the likes of Atty Persse, Frankuus and the Anthony Oppenheimer-owned colt’s stablemate Seven Heavens among the Frankel offspring already in the ante-post market for the Epsom showpiece, Cracksman added his name the list after a debut win in the mile prize.

Although being eyeballed late on by fellow newcomer Wild Tempest, the 9-2 winner showed his appetite for a battle to forge on and take the spoils by a length and a quarter.

He was introduced at 33-1 for the Derby by both Paddy Power and Bet Victor, with RaceBets going 40-1.

Gosden said: “He’s next year’s horse and that’s it for this season.

“He’s a grand horse and has done nothing but grow. He’s still very unfurnished.

“He found himself in front too soon, but luckily he still won as he had the rail to run with.

“We’ll go straight up to a mile and a quarter and that is where his strengths will lie. He gives me the feeling he’s more of a mile-and-a-quarter horse and we could see him going for a nice conditions race at Newbury in the spring.”

While a tilt at the 2000 Guineas looks to be off the agenda for Dreamfield, a trip to Royal Ascot is very much on the cards following his victory in the AR Legal Houghton Conditions Stakes.

Although being forced to pull out all the stops to follow up his debut win at Nottingham the 2-5 favourite received a quote of 20-1 for next year’s Commonwealth Cup with Paddy Power.

He did just enough to land the seven-furlong event, which Gosden took 12 months ago with Hayadh, when denying Top Score by short head.

Gosden said: “James (Doyle) said after he won Nottingham over six that he felt he was a sprinter so we thought we’d run him over seven to see.

“It was quite testing and he’d done enough. He got left alone in front a long time.

“We will go for the Pavilion Stakes and then the Commonwealth Cup, rather than the Greenham. It’s much better knowing now what to train him for.”

White Chocolate put her previous experience to good use to end the campaign on a winning note in the opening division of the discovernewmarket.co.uk Median Auction Maiden Fillies’ Stakes.

Having been beaten over a mile on her debut at Newcastle 12 days ago, the 7-2 favourite went one better on her drop back to seven furlongs.

Travelling well into the race on the outside of the field, the David Simcock-trained daughter of Mastercraftsman was forced to knuckle down before getting the better of newcomer Curlew River late on by a head.

Simcock said: “She is an honest …
