Chelsea Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Pepe and Lorenzo Pellegrini

Real Madrid defender Pepe has reaffirmed his desire to end his career at the club following reports he could be set to join Chelsea.

He told Spanish radio station Antenna 3 (h/t the Daily Star’s James Walters):

I am calm. I want to help Madrid, the club I love.

I am at peace. I hope the club call me first to resolve this [contract] situation. I am calm, people in the club know that this is my home.

I have already said that I expect to be with Madrid until the last second [of his career].

My goal is to retire here.

The Mirror had reported the centre-back—who is out of contract in the summer and can negotiate a move to a foreign club in January—could be set to join Chelsea, as he has only been offered a one-year extension by Los Blancos and “his advisers are holding out for a two-year deal.”
