LA leaning toward holding Kershaw for Game 6
- Updated: October 19, 2016
LOS ANGELES — The Dodgers’ 6-0 win over the Cubs in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series Tuesday night virtually assured that Game 1 starter Kenta Maeda will get the call for Game 5 on Thursday at home, with Clayton Kershaw (on extra rest) and Rich Hill available for Games 6 and 7 in Chicago, if necessary.
After the Dodgers took a 2-1 series lead, manager Dave Roberts said, “Right now, we’re not worried about deviating from our plan.” That plan, loosely explained before the game, would be to bring Kershaw back from his Game 2 win in Chicago for Game 5 on Thursday if the Dodgers had lost Games 3 and 4 and were facing elimination.
