Kershaw likely for G6, but G5 still a possibility
- Updated: October 18, 2016
LOS ANGELES — Dodgers workhorse Clayton Kershaw did not throw a bullpen session on Tuesday, and by the time Dave Roberts was done addressing why, it sounded like Kershaw was more likely to appear next in Game 6 of the National League Championship Series on Saturday in Chicago on extra rest.
Unless, that is, if Game 5 on Thursday in Los Angeles is an elimination game, in which case the Dodgers would have almost no choice but to start Kershaw on short rest instead of tentative probable starter Kenta Maeda, who has struggled in both of his postseason games.
• NLCS Game 3: Tonight at 8 p.m. ET/5 PT on FS1
“After [Wednesday’s] result, it should be a little more clear, but nothing definitive,” Roberts said. “Clayton will be ready to pitch when he’s asked to pitch.”
