‘De Gea gives United the edge’

David de Gea can be the key to Manchester United finishing ahead of Liverpool in the Premier League, according to Ray Wilkins.
United earned a point against their bitter rivals with a goalless draw at Anfield on Monday night despite claiming just 35 per cent of the possession – United’s lowest share in a Premier League match since 2003 – and having only one shot on target.
Liverpool’s superior ball retention did not translate into clear-cut opportunities, however, with two fantastic saves from De Gea denying Emre Can and Philippe Coutinho in the second half.
The draw sees Liverpool close to within two points of league leaders Manchester City, with seventh-placed United a further three points behind.
