Osasuna clinched their first win of the season after coming from behind to defeat Eibar 3-2 on Monday evening, although even three points wasn’t enough to lift one of La Liga’s strugglers out of the bottom three.
Gonzalo Escalante put the hosts ahead after just 18 seconds before two goals from Sergio Leon put Osasuna in front, and Roberto Torres provided a second-half winner after Sergi Enrich equalised for Eibar just before half-time.
Monday’s result capped off an entertaining Week 8 schedule in which Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid all notched big wins to continue their tug-of-war at La Liga’s peak.
Osasuna are still in 19th place following Monday’s landmark win, but a first win of the 2016-17 campaign will undoubtedly give them the confidence needed to make a sterner run at top-flight survival.
Read on for a recap of Monday’s sole fixture, complete with a look at the updated table standings after Week 8 and a breakdown of La Liga’s most recent batch of results.
