Kyrgios suspended until 2017

Nick Kyrgios has been suspended for the rest of the year by the ATP unless he agrees to see a sports psychologist.

The Australian has been handed an eight week ban, effective from October 17 until January 15, for ‘conduct contrary to the integrity of the game’ in last week’s Shanghai Masters.

Kyrgios visibly threw one game in his defeat to Mischa Zverev and also got into verbal exchanges with a supporter and the umpire. He was initially fined $16,000 and has now been charged an extra $25,000.

But the suspension will be reduced to three tournament weeks, ending on November 7, if Kyrgios agrees to enter a plan of care, under the direction of a sports psychologist.
