Death Of Leisure Swimmer Overshadows The Hong Kong Cross-Harbour Race

A swimmer drowned in the Hong Kong Cross-Harbour open water race on Sunday, while another was left in a critical condition at the annual swim event.
Local media reported that the man, whose surname is Ho, died was rushed to hospital after being pulled unconscious from the water by a rescue boat 300m from the finish of the race at about 9.30am.
The 46-year-old father of a 15-year-old daughter and a 4-year-old son was described by his parents talking to local media as a man who loved to swim. Ho, a regular marathon runner, had completed the cross-harbour swim every year since it was reinstated in 2011 after a 30-year break caused by concerns over levels of …
