MLS: Montreal book play-off spot

DC United and Montreal Impact booked their place in the MLS play-offs on the penultimate weekend of the regular season.
United moved up to fourth in the Eastern Conference with a 3-1 win over New York City FC, which was inspired by goals from Patrick Mullins, Bobby Boswell and Rob Vincent.
Montreal also secured a berth despite conceding a late equaliser in a 2-2 draw with Canadian rivals Toronto FC. Ignacio Piatti’s double had twice put them in front, but Tosaint Ricketts levelled in the 86th minute to restrict Impact to a point.
