CHICAGO — When Jake Arrieta steps onto the Dodger Stadium mound Tuesday to start Game 3 of the National League Championship Series, it will have been 416 days since he last left it pumping his fist as he headed for an embrace with his batterymate.

It was there in Chavez Ravine that Arrieta twirled his first career no-hitter, the 14th in franchise history. Now, he’s returning with an opportunity to pitch the Cubs closer to their first World Series berth since 1945.

“I’ve had these moments in the past, and it’s just something you really want to relish and try and embrace and enjoy as much as you can,” Arrieta said of pitching in the postseason. “You play the long season, regular season to get to this moment, to have these types of opportunities, and you prepare and you move forward accordingly and try and take care of business.”
