LA relievers know it’s ‘all hands on deck’ for G5

WASHINGTON — The Dodgers have not yet officially named a starter for Thursday’s winner-take-all Game 5 of the National League Division Series in Washington (8 p.m. ET/5 PT, FS1). But whether it’s Rich Hill or Julio Urias, there’s a good chance he’ll be the club’s “starting pitcher” in title only.
Los Angeles is fully prepared to turn Thursday into a bullpen game, and manager Dave Roberts confirmed as much following Tuesday’s 6-5 victory when he said “it’s going to be a collection of arms” pitching for the Dodgers in Game 5.

It appears likely that veteran left-hander Hill will start, but he’s never started on short rest in his career and has spent the past two months battling a blister on his pitching hand. Urias, meanwhile, is a 20-year-old rookie who has never pitched in the postseason.
With that in mind, the Dodgers will be ready to call on their bullpen at the first sign of trouble.
