Southgate: I’ve done a good job

Gareth Southgate is happy with his handling of the England job but will make no early decision on his long-term ambition.
Sam Allardyce’s abrupt exit left Southgate in charge for four games, and the first two finished with victory over Malta and a goalless draw in Slovenia.
The interim manager said on his appointment he would assess his ambitions after November’s games against Spain and Scotland and nothing has changed, although Southgate is happy with his handling of the job to date.
“I think I feel pleased with how I have handled any number of situations,” said the U21 boss, who admitted earlier this summer he was not ready for the senior job.
