Steve Bruce says he is “in the frame” as Aston Villa’s owner prepares to name the club’s new manager on Wednesday.
The former Birmingham boss has for days been a short-priced bookmakers’ favourite to replace Roberto Di Matteo, who was sacked this month after just 12 games in charge.
And after Dr Tony Xia confirmed an announcement is imminent, Bruce stopped just short of confirming his own appointment.
