Half-centuries from Gautam Gambhir and Cheteshwar Pujara helped India stretch their overnight lead of 276 by a further 109 runs as New Zealand tried to slow them down with one-day fields in the first session of day four. The pair added 76 for the second wicket before Gambhir fell for 50 off 56 balls, chipping Jeetan Patel to short extra-cover. Pujara brought up his fourth fifty of the series in the last over before lunch, going from 45 to 49 with a deft late dab off Patel before scampering a quick single off the next ball.
