Travis hopes rest before ALCS helps knee heal
- Updated: October 10, 2016
TORONTO — Devon Travis didn’t take the field in Sunday’s 7-6 series-clinching 10-inning victory over the Rangers, but the Blue Jays’ injured second baseman is hoping a few days off will allow him to get back into action when the American League Championship Series opens on Friday (time TBD on TBS and, in Canada, Sportsnet and RDS).
After sweeping Texas in the AL Division Series, Toronto will have four days off to rest and recuperate as it awaits the winner between Boston and Cleveland. That time off could be crucial for Travis, who has been dealing with a bone bruise in his right knee since being announced as a late scratch prior to Game 2. Toronto kept Travis on the active roster against Texas to preserve his eligibility in the ALCS.
