Konta’s top 10 spot confirmed

Johanna Konta has climbed to a career high ninth in the world rankings while Andy Murray has closed on Novak Djokovic and Kyle Edmund is into the top 50.
Konta’s brilliant season continued over the weekend when she reached the final in Beijing, losing to Agnieska Radwanksa and in the latest rankings the 25-year-old climbed into the top 10 for the first time in her career.
She rises fives places from 14th and is also into the top eight in the Champions Race which could see her make her debut in the season-ending WTA Finals.
Konta is the first British woman since Jo Durie in 1984 to get into he top 10 and the boom for British tennis continued in the men’s rankings with Edmund and Murray making inroads on their respective targets.
