Lunch India 75 for 2 (Pujara 29*, Kohli 7*) v New ZealandLive scorecard and ball-by-ball details
Having won their third toss of the series and their eighth in a row in home Tests, India lost both their openers in an otherwise comfortable morning for batsmen on the first day of Test cricket at the Holkar Stadium. The pitch was full of cracks and turn and uneven bounce are likely to play an increasing role as the match progresses, but there was little help for the bowlers in the first session of day one. Given that, New Zealand will have been pleased to dismiss M Vijay and Gautam Gambhir. At lunch, India were 75 for 2, with Cheteshwar Pujara looking solid on 29 and Virat Kohli batting alongside on 7.
