Lewis to start must-win Game 3 in Toronto
- Updated: October 7, 2016
ARLINGTON — Facing a 2-0 deficit in the American League Division Series, the Rangers will start right-hander Colby Lewis in a must-win Game 3 against the Blue Jays and Aaron Sanchez on Sunday at Rogers Centre.
The game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT, and it will be broadcast on TBS in the United States and Sportsnet (English) and TVA (French) in Canada.
Manager Jeff Banister said he is considering going with Cole Hamels in Game 4 (if needed) on Monday on three days’ rest. Hamels has made just one career start in the regular season on three days’ rest, and never in the postseason, but he threw just 82 pitches in his Game 1 start.
Starting pitcher Martin Perez — who was available in the bullpen for the Rangers’ 5-3 loss in Game 2, but was not used — would be the other option if Texas decides against using Hamels.
